
LEESVILLE – A funeral service for Perry Douglas “Doug” Lewis, 69, will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lewis was born September 23, 1945 in Batesburg, SC and passed away Monday, August 17, 2015. He was the son of the late, LaVan Olin Lewis and Etta Rozalia DuVall Lewis. Doug graduated from Emmanuel College, Methodist College and Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Co. He belonged to the NEA, United Methodist Men, Ruritan and served on the Board of Church and Society of the Nebraska Conference of the United Methodist Church; organized and brought VIM (Volunteers) in Mission) from Nebraska to South Carolina and Louisiana after hurricanes Hugo and Andrew hit; organized and sang in church Cantatas; member of the Cancer Society, the Basset and Nebraska Arts Council. He always lived positive in his thinking, wit and personality. He loved most of all serving God by serving others.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his daughters, Karla Lewis Adams (Brian) and Christy Lewis Blazer; grandchildren, Chase, Zach, Payton, Carter and Colin; sisters, Lazette “Boots” Langford and Betty “Tissy” Elaine Price (Jerry); sister-in-law, Annie Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Tommy and Billy Lewis and sister, Kathy Lewis Sharpe.
