Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a long and fulfilling career with NCR, from which he eventually retired. Known for his love of the outdoors and the open road, Ray enjoyed riding motorcycles , horseback riding, hunting, and fishing. In his later years, he found joy in visiting his brother in Wagener or his son at work.
Ray is survived by his son, Chad Dillon (Stacey), and Chad’s mother, Peggy. He was a proud grandfather to Hailey Smith (Layne) and Caden Dillon, and a great-grandfather to Brodie and Piper Smith. He also leaves behind his brothers: Haskel Eugene “Sonny” Dillon, Jimmy Dillon Sr., and Donny Dillon, along with their extended families—three generations who affectionately knew and loved him as “Uncle Ray.” He was predeceased by his parents and his younger sister, Sally.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington, SC. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service.
