LEXINGTON - Rhodie Harmon Kyzer, 83, peacefully left this earth into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 12:45 p.m. in Palmetto Richland Hospital one month short of her 84th birthday after losing her battle to cancer of 38years.
Born October 4, 1928 to the late Godfrey Leaphart “Major” Harmon and Maggie Roland Harmon, she was a Saint on this Earth, facing many life challenges with strength and grace…never asking for anything, never wanting for anything, but grateful for all things. She loved everyone and her love to others was returned to her many times over. She was a beautiful and gracious lady inside and out. Mother lived a sweet Christian life and spent over 50 years at Red Bank United Methodist Church. She loved her Pastor, Church Family, her mother’s class and their Sr. Outings, Bus trips and the new church sanctuary. Mother loved to travel with us and loved Gospel Music, especially the Gaither homecoming Family.
She was survived by her 2 children, daughter, Sandra Faye “Sandi” Kyzer Wynn (Willie) and son, Earle Kyzer (Brenda); 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Pearl Harmon Whitman of Winnsboro and brother-in-law, Hollie Kyzer of Leesville and Greenville, plus many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Greer Kyzer when he was only 50 years old and she was 43.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Red Bank United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Russell Freeman and nephew, Rev. Nelson Taylor with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Kyzer will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be her nephews and Honorary Pallbearers will be her nieces, nephews and her mother’s class. Visitation will be
held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. Memorials may be made to Red Bank United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 2909 Old Barnwell Road, Lexington, SC 29073.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Shah and Pauline, Columbia Heart, Dr. Babcock, Dr. McElveen and Staff at SCOA, Staff at Palmetto Richland and Life Care Center, Drs. Dickson, Chow, Koli and Staff of Lexington Medicine Mart who all helped Mom so much on this journey. Thanks for each call, word, card, visit, flower, gift and food as we traveled this journey all year. It was an honor to be there for Mom all these years, as she was equally there for us. Mother will be missed by each of us, but her example will live with us forever. Thankfully she knew how much she was loved.
