
Richard Hampton Tedder was a strong man of faith. He had great love for his family, working hard, serving others, fishing and simply being outdoors. He went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2022 surrounded by loved ones at his home in Red Bank, SC.
Richard was born June 23, 1940 in Darlington County, South Carolina, the son of the late W. L. Tedder and Geneva Marshall Tedder. He was preceded in death by his wives, Gwen Roland Tedder, Judy Hancock Tedder and daughter, Dorinda David. He is survived by his fiancé, Magaline Wymer; son, Derrick Tedder of Lexington, SC; grandsons, Joseph H. Tedder, Rhett Bise and great grandson, Joseph H. Tedder, Jr. of Lexington, SC.
After graduation from Olympia High School in 1957, Richard spent four years as a deputy for Richland County Sheriff’s Department. This was followed by more than twenty-five years with SC Electric and Gas in Columbia, SC.
Richard was a Master Mason and a lifetime member of the Pacific Lodge 325 of Olympia.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Independent Fellowship Church, 3595 SC-6, Lexington, SC 29073. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Lexington Memorial Cemetery.
