
LEXINGTON – Ruffin was born in Leesville, South Carolina, on January 11, 1933, to the late Ruffin Padgett and Cleola Gantt Padgett. He passed away quietly at home on Monday, March 7, 2016. He served our country in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1973. After retiring from the Air Force, Ruffin worked Civil Service, retiring as a Maintenance Supervisor at Shaw Air Force Base in 1996.
He is survived by his daughters, Carole (Brian) Prucey and Linda (Robin) Kirksey; sons, David Padgett and Steven (Kathryn) Padgett; grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Kirksey and Austin and Mallory Padgett; brother and his wife, V.D. and Marjorie Padgett; sister, Margaret Childers; and sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Padgett. Ruffin was predeceased by his wonderful wife of 53 years, Rita Maud Padgett; son, Michael Padgett; sisters, Jewell Knott and Mildred Poole, and brother, Gantt Padgett.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at Round Hill Baptist Church with interment in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
The family would like to give special thanks to Pastor Don Turner for faithfully ministering to our father during the months of his illness. We would also like to thank the caring staff of Palmetto Health Hospice.
