
Sue Evans Patterson, 75, of Chapin SC, died peacefully in her home on December 25, 2021. Sue was born in Whitfield County, Dalton, Georgia on August 4, 1946 to the late Dexter Eugene Evans and Julie Evans Evans.
She was a graduate of Dalton High School. After high school, she attended West Georgia College, Stanford University, and the University of Georgia where she received a degree in Elementary Education. She was an educator for years teaching elementary school. After teaching, she worked as a kindergarten, reading, and language arts consultant. She was also an airline stewardess for Delta Airlines. Sue's passion for education and her infectious personality eventually led her to a successful career in textbook sales. She retired from McDougal Littell where she was a top performer earning numerous awards, including Southeast Regional Sales Representative of the Year.
In her free time, Sue was an accomplished cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was also an avid shagger and loved spending time with her friends at the Lake Murray Shag Club.
Sue is survived by her husband, Robert L. Patterson “Bob”; her two beloved cats, Pookie and Jazz; her daughter, Elaine Patterson Swain (Tim) of Lexington SC; two sons, Gary L. Patterson (Paula) of Elgin SC and Bobby Patterson (Ginger) of Greenwood SC; 8 grandchildren, Brandi Johns (Hunter), Alexis Smith (Tucker), Adam Patterson, Garrett Swain (Dori), Madison Swain Fincher (Chris), Matthew Swain, Erin Munn, Connor Patterson and one great grandchild, Mason Johns.
Sue was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church and the Christian Fellowship Class.
Sue has requested a private family ceremony.
The family would like to thank Agape Hospice, especially her nurses Kim and Keesha. We would also like to thank her caregivers, Ebbie, Rebecca, and First Light of Columbia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Sue's honor.
