

WEST COLUMBIA – Funeral service for Warren Craig Jumper, 78, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery. Officiating is Rev. Lance Henderson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Pallbearers will be Robert Mitchell, Todd Sease, Joel Carter, John Drafts, Bill Gunnells, John Jones, Thomas Dawson and Brad Dawson. Honorary Pallbearers are Our Saviour Lutheran Men in Mission and Adult Sunday Church School Class.
Memorials may be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church or a charity of one’schoice. Mr. Jumper was born, November 1, 1935 and passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014. He was the son of the late Marion Corley and Pauline Stogner Jumper. He graduated Lexington High School and was a proud member of the LHS Football Team. Mr. Jumper served in the US Navy aboard the USS Los Angeles from 1954-1958 and graduated Clemson University in 1965. After working with Lockwood Greene in Spartanburg, SC, Craig came home to Lexington County being offered a position with Wessinger and Drafts Architects. Upon Mr. Jesse Wessinger’s retirement in 1969, Craig became a partner with John Drafts and the name of the firm was changed to Drafts and Jumper in 1970. Craig’s career with Drafts and Jumper had many successes including Pine Ridge Middle School winning a National School Award in Atlantic City, New Jersey and having this school compete internationally in Basel, Switzerland. He was also instrumental in promoting safe and functional learning environments as he volunteered his time to work with the State Department of Education in the early 70’s as one of the authors of the South Carolina School Facilities Planning and Construction Guide. In 1992 the firm’s name changed to Jumper Carter Sease/Architects and remains so to this date. He was Past Director of the South Carolina Chapter of American Institute of Architects, member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Lutheran Men in Mission, former Church Council Member, served on Lexington County Planning Commission, West Columbia Planning Board, Lexington County Recreational Association, Member of IPTAY, past President of Lexington County Clemson Club and a member of West Columbia Cayce Lions Club. Mr. Jumper is survived by his wife, Margaret Dawson Jumper of West Columbia; a daughter, Jennifer Kitchens (T.Brent) of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Maura Lee and Addison Myers Kitchens; sister-in-law, Emily Dawson White and also his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister, Harriet Elizabeth Jumper.
