Christy “Chris” Paul Hansmann, 76, of Liberty, Missouri passed away on March 11, 2026. A Memorial Service in his memory will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 2 p.m. Doors will open to guests 30 minutes before the service.
Chris was born in St. Louis, MO on October 5, 1949, to Jeanne Arlon (Englemann) and Oscar Victor Hansmann. He attended school in Florissant, MO and graduated from McCluer High School. He joined the US Army in May of 1970 and was honorably discharged as the sole surviving son in April of 1971. During his time with the army, he earned a National Defense Service Medal, a Marksman (Rifle M-16) badge, and an Expert (Rifle M-14) badge. After his stint in the military, Chris worked in the data processing field for many years and later became a car salesman at a variety of dealerships. Once he retired from sales, he occupied his time by being a school bus driver.
Chris had one child, who he named Jason. On July 4, 1987, Chris married the woman who would see him to the end of his days, Cynthia Ann Geither. They did not have children together, but Cynthia accepted Jason as her own. Chris loved his family, but he also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and NASCAR races. He was a great admirer of cars and could name just about any car he saw on the highway. He wasn’t one to do much mechanical work, but he treated his Miata in “Black Cherry Mica” with exceptional care.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne and Oscar.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his son, Jason (Nicci) Hansmann; his siblings, Vicki (Dennis) Lewis and Lori (John) Benisch; his grandchildren, Alyssa (JT) Drisko and Michelle Hansmann; his great-grandchildren, Adeline Drisko and Kora Gabany; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, Chris’s family requests that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation helps America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to the families of Gold Star recipients and fallen first responders, building specially adapted homes for disabled veterans and first responders, and is also committed to ending veteran homelessness. This was a cause that Chris strongly believed in and one of the only places that he would personally donate, as 93 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to help America’s heroes.
