John W. Munkers, 68, went home to be with his Maker on November 3, 2015. He left a trail of unrestrained generosity and unconditional love behind him. He was born on July 26, 1947 to John W. and Edith F. Munkers in Clay County, Missouri. Two years later, he became the proud big brother of Norma Jean Munkers. In 1965, he became an uncle for the first time, and would be known by nieces and nephews for the next 50 years as “Uncle Johnny.” Johnny loved fast cars, Reba McEntire, John Wayne and Dale Earnhardt. He attended Kearney Schools, and spent his professional career as a truck driver. In his later years, he enjoyed his bright red Chevy pickup truck, and gave grief to any family member who ever put their trust in a Ford. In 1994, he married his best friend Brandi. Together, they enjoyed life and sharing and giving generously to those around them. Together, they loved their little dogs and the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and all the fur-babies in their lives. He was born again and baptized in the Lathrop Assembly of God Church, and made many, many friends at the Kearney Estates Senior Housing. His friends Robert Lewis and Ronnie Whitham were good friends to him and shared his love for shooting the bull and telling stories of days gone by.
