Joyce was born November 21, 1947, to Herman and Dorothy Pirch. The youngest of five children, she grew up on her parents' farm in Platte City. Joyce gained an art background in high school and oil painting was a particular favorite. She graduated from Platte City High School. Joyce was Homecoming Queen in High School and Tatler Queen while at William Jewell. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from William Jewell with a bachelor's in education in 1969. While at college, Joyce was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and worked in the dorms as a receptionist. She had a love for children and looked forward to a career as a teacher.
Joyce met her future husband, Stephen Morris, III, while at William Jewell and they married on February 14, 1970. She worked as a teacher's aide and student teacher before starting her family with her husband. Joyce cared for their two daughters, Rebecca and Sara, and eventually their children. She also helped her husband at their grocery stores, Liberty United Super, and Food 4 Less in Jefferson City and Moberly.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed movies, loved poring over recipes, and attending church. Her faith in Jesus was very important to her. Joyce loved art of all kinds and had amazing handwriting. She made every event special. Joyce was a caretaker at heart and poured her love into her family and friends. Many people called her "Aunt Joyce." She was very congenial and found the good in everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Dorothy Pirch; her beloved husband, Steve Morris; her sister, Beverly Vanderpool; her brother-in-law, Joe Barbour.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Morris (Sarah), and Sara Corpuz (Mel); her grandchildren, Charlie, Chris, Owen, Noah, and Lily; her siblings, Jim Pirch, Carol Barbour, and Barbara Young (Bill); her sisters and brother-in-law, Marilee Gabbard (Hugh), Betsy Clark (Stan), and John Mike Morris (Jeanneen); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
