

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Peggy Ann Hassig, 78, of Liberty, Missouri passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Peggy was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on January 19, 1939 to Virgil and Lucy (Clark) Payne. She graduated from Jasper High School in Jasper, Missouri in 1957 and went on to attend Linden Wood College in St. Charles, Missouri and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona to earn a Bachelor's degree in Vocational Home Economics.
Peggy retired from USA Today in 2000, but especially enjoyed being a mother, homemaker, and seamstress. Her joy for life came from her love for the Lord. She was known for her radiant smile, infectious laughter and compassionate love for all people. Peggy was a proud member and deacon of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church and an active participant of the Breaktime Club through the Northland Shephard's Center.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Lucy Payne, and former husband, Lawrence Hassig and brother-in-law Ken Howell. She is survived by her son, Darin (Marnie) Hassig, her three daughters, Ann (Paul) Morrison, Becky (Joey) Allen, and Amie (Dale) Kirby, her brother, Max (Carolyn) Payne, her two sisters, Marcia Howell and Pamela Payne, and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 Northeast Vivion Road, Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
