

Rose was born in Kansas City, MO on Easter Sunday, March 24, 1940 to Paul and Angie Elder. As an adult, Rose did everything in her power to make a better life for disabled individuals. She was involved with many groups and held many positions over the years, including, Chairman of the Committee to Implement Senate Bill 40; President of the B.W. Shepherd School for the Severely Handicapped; Adult Advisor for the Northeast Youth Association for Retarded Children; Vice Chairman of the Proposition I Campaign; Election Chairman for the Proposition I Campaign; Board Member of the Northeast Area Community Council; Member of the Missouri Association of Retarded Children; President of Concerned Citizens for Neighborhood Schools; Vice Chairman of the Jackson County Board of Services of the Developmentally Disabled; Member of the Jackson County Board of Domestic-Violence Shelters for Battered Women and Children; Member of the Northeast Federation of Republican Women, and a Member of Parents Group BVI.
Rose was a member of the National Association of Realtors, the K.C. Metropolitan Board of Realtors, the Missouri Association of Realtors, the Metropolitan K.C. Womens Council of Realtors, and was Chairman of the Political Involvement Committee of the Womens Council of Realtors.
December 8, 1981, Rose gave her life to Jesus. She began to spread His word, as a faithful servant to God who helped lead many to salvation. She was a member of Kansas City Church.
Many lives were changed through Al and Rose's jail ministry named Bethesda Ministry.
Rose was also devoted to her growing family: a wonderful husband and a gaggle of children and step-children. She has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was blessed to meet the youngest of them before her passing.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Angie Elder, and son Rick Roark.
Rose is survived by her husband, Albert Purtle; her children, Teresa Millan, Carla Youngs, Jack Youngs, III, Gene Purtle, Jr., Lonny Purtle, Anthony Purtle, Lynette Schneider and Matthew Glen Purtle. Rose has 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with Services at 11:00 a.m. at Kansas City Church, 7700 N. Church Road, Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow, to Mt. Washington Cemetery. 614 South Brookside Ave., Independence, MO.
