Stephen was born April 11, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, to Marvin and Arlyce Peterson. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa. He later attended classes at Montgomery Community College in Maryland and several in Florida. Stephen worked primarily in sales and operations for a variety of organizations.
He was an avid reader and collected hundreds of books. He was especially interested in history, biographies, science fiction and crime novels. Stephen also was a video game player and had a large collection of vintage records and enjoyed listening to 80s rock music.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlyce Peterson, and his sister, Cynthia Artz.
Stephen is survived by his father, Marvin Peterson; his sister, Vonie Mae Martin (Gary); his nieces, Fuyin and Wren Martin; as well as other relatives and friends.
