Theodore Robert "Ted" Bare, age 92, of Gladstone, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 surrounded by family. A memorial service for Ted will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Second Baptist Church, 300 East Kansas Street, Liberty, MO 64068, followed by a visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Ted will be interred at Ozarks Memorial Park in Branson at a later date.
Ted was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many interests and hobbies. He loved duck hunting, fishing, and gardening as well as running, woodcarving, and playing the harmonica. His proudest running accomplishments were the St. Louis, Kansas City, and New York City marathons. He wrote about his duck hunting experiences and was twice published in the Missouri Conservationist. His wood carvings were treasured gifts and reflected his many interests.
More than anything, Ted cherished time with family, including his wife, Nancy, and their children and grandchildren: Kristopher Bare and his children Lyndsay Bare, Keenan Bare, and Ashley Duncan; Lisa (Bare) and Matt Rolf and their children Collin Rolf, Adrienne Rolf, and Benjamin Rolf; Sara (Bare) and Jeff Langford and their children Ian and Sarah Langford, Seth and Cole Langford Braun, and Isaac Langford; and David and Kelly Bare and their children Jacob Bare and Zachary Bare. Ted and Nancy always made time to attend the many sporting events, activities, and musical performances of their children and grandchildren.
A native of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, Ted had fond childhood memories of swimming, ice-skating and playing with cousins and his older sister, Rosemary, on Rock Lake near his home. Ted was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of Kansas State University, where he was a member of the gymnastics team. He enjoyed a long career at the U.S. Geological Survey in Rolla, Mo., before moving to the Branson area after retirement. Ted and Nancy moved to the Kansas City area in 2016, residing most recently at Linden Woods Village in Gladstone where they have made many friends. Ted's family is forever grateful to the Linden Woods community and the Traditions Health Hospice team for the excellent, compassionate care provided. Ted and Nancy were active members of First Baptist Church in Rolla, First Presbyterian Church in Branson and Second Baptist Church in Liberty.
