Bud was born May 21, 1938 in Boone County, Missouri. When he was a young child, his family moved to Wyandotte County, Kansas where he grew up and lived for many years. He moved to Ozark, Arkansas later in life where he became an avid Razorback fan, before returning to Kansas City a few years ago. Bud worked in concrete and construction throughout his life. He enjoyed going to concrete conventions in Las Vegas and traveling in general. Bud and his buddies traveled to Mexico several times over the years and he loved telling stories of those adventures.
He enjoyed coaching men’s basketball in his younger years, reading; he was especially fond of history, he also enjoyed flying (not road trips), sitting in the sun, his shoe collection (most notably his red Converse Chuck Taylors), and listening to music (classic country and rock.) Bud regularly attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Gladstone Community Center senior events. He never met a stranger and was a great story-teller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sharon Jewell Holmes; his second wife, Shirlene Kay Holmes; his daughter, Roxanna Holmes; and his siblings, Myrtle, Ralph and Ray.
Bud is survived by his sister, Margaret Stephenson, his children, Kathy McEachron (Ronnie), William E. “Bill” Holmes (Renee), Tamalyn Chiesa, and Quentin Holmes (Monica); as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Fond memories and condolences for Bud may be left at www.churcharcherpasley.com, as arrangements are under the direction of Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 816-781-2000.
