A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Triad Church, 705 Sunshine Way, Greensboro, NC; burial will follow the service at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lucy was the daughter of the late William Henry Harrison and Alma Pauline Smith Harrison and was also preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Lee Harrison; and her special friend, George White.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory sister, Margaret Sink; nieces, Lynne Massaroni (Richard), Sandi Kirkpatrick (Kyle), Dawn Curtis; nephew, Keavin Harrison (Leah); and a host of cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Lucy was a truly special soul who brought joy to everyone she met. She had a deep love for her family, Jesus Christ, going to church, and singing hymns—knowing every word by heart, even though she could not read. Her faith was pure and childlike, a beautiful reflection of her kind and giving spirit. Lucy was raised on a tobacco farm in Climax and worked alongside her family for many years. She had a passion for the simple joys in life, from listening to Elvis Presley to savoring a McDonald's Happy Meal or a Krispy Kreme donut. Every Monday morning, she delighted in collecting coupons from her neighbors, not for herself, but to share with others in need. A devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves, she and her mother cheered them on with enthusiasm. At Clapp’s Nursing Center, where she was adored by all, she was lovingly named the "Chief Welcoming Officer," a title that perfectly suited her warm and friendly nature. Lucy’s life was a gift, and her radiant presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Clapp's Nursing Center and Dr. Robert Nevill Gates for the exceptional care shown to Lucy over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lucy's honor to Clapp's Nursing Center (Activity Fund), 5229 Appomattox Road, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313 or Autism Society of North Carolina-Greensboro (Attention: Sherry Leonard), 5 Centerview Drive, Suite 150, Greensboro, NC 27407.
