A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. and a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at New Day Ministries, 116 Depot Street, Liberty, with Pastor Michael Crigler and Pastor Aaron Powers officiating.
Charles was the son of the late Charlie Richard Blake and Stella Proctor Blake. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley “Joann” Hobbs Blake and his brother, William David Blake.
He leaves behind a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Blake; special friends and caretakers, Freddy & Sheryl Warren; and several nieces and nephews.
Charles served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. He went on to have a career in grocery as assistant manager. He was a member of New Day Ministries in Liberty, where he enjoyed singing gospel music and praising the Lord every chance he could. While Charles was a beacon of God’s mercy and grace, he also had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to cut up.
During his final days, Charles wanted to be sure everyone knew how grateful he was for each and every person that had shown him love and support. A special thank you to his special friends and caretakers, Freddy & Sheryl Warren, who were always like family; Brother Larry King, for the countless visits, always covering Charles in prayer, and simply being there for him; and to the extraordinary hospice nurses, Sonia Crissman and Rosemary “Rosie” Williams for the special care and attention for Charles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Day Ministries, PO Box 1561, Liberty, NC 27298.
