David Leo Bowman, 85, of Burlington, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 24, 2019 surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3572 W. Chapel Hill Road, Liberty. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

David was the son of the late William Riley Bowman and Mae Russell Overman. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Robert “Bob” Overman and brothers, Russell Bowman and Ted Bowman.

David is survived by his wife, Sarah Rierson Bowman; children, Cathy Hinshaw, Cindy Daluisio (Ralph), Carla Bryan, Cheryl Godfrey, Michael Bowman (Christine) and Brian Bowman; sister, Adele Ferguson (Milton); and brothers, Gordon Bowman (Betty) and Ralph Bowman. He also leaves behind his 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3572 W. Chapel Hill Road, Liberty or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
