Mike was a loving husband, father and Papa. He was a selfless, hard-working man, giving 100% to each task that he took on. He grew up on his family's farm where he gained his work ethic and his love of farming. Many may remember him from his time working at Copland Industries in Haw River and Dixie Equipment Co. in Liberty. Mike was a jack of all trades, a fixer of all things. His toughness and strong-will earned him the nickname "Superman" in the fight of his life.
There will be no services held.
He was the son of the late James Edward and Irene Dare Long Black and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Black and Eddie Black.
Mike is survived by his wife of 16 years, Peggy Hodgin Black; daughters, Melanie Terrell, Stacy Staley (John) and Christa Evans (Trevor); and one he thought of as his own, Wendy Hart (Jimmy); 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Vicky Faulkner; and his beloved four-legged Tiger.
