JC had a passion for helping others. He enjoyed mowing for many in the community, including the Church of Christ, church members, his children, and several lots where he lived at Moore’s Trailer Park. He also had a passion for refurbishing old cars. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with family and friends while working on cars. JC loved to share stories and reminisce about his younger years in Saltville, Virginia, including the story of learning how to drive in the Virginia mountains while running white lightening. He was a loving husband, father of three and grandfather of three.
JC was the son of the late Judge Henry Rickman and Margaret Caywood Rickman Rust. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Surber Rickman; sister, Clara Etta Griffin; and nephews, John Griffin, Larry Griffin and Todd Rickman, along with many other family and friends that have greeted him on the other side.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Augustyn (Mike), Velma Cook (Scotty), and Ruth Moore (Danny); grandchildren, Tim Augustyn, Andy Augustyn (Samantha Johnson), and Chloe Moore; and brother, Ernie Rickman. JC also leaves behind his faithful companion, Ralphie, the silver yorkie. The family would like to extend their many thanks to friends, Johnny and Katie Hinshaw, Margaret and Florin Jenkins, and Dejay and Bonnie Davenport for their faithful friendships throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Randolph Hospice House, 446 Vision Dr., Asheboro, NC 27203 or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station PO BOX 4777, New York, NY 10163.
