Jamie and I loved your Dad and always enjoyed being around him.
He is one of the main reasons that Jamie got back into the boat business.
Lake Wateree has missed him and your Mom since they left.

 Monk was a very special friend. I first met Monk  on my first day attending North Carolina State University. He roomed next door to me while we lived in Tucker Dorm and we went everywhere  together.  We even had a bowling team in a league and it seem like we did everything but study. After we were both  married to our present wives  we lived across from each other in Married Student Housing.  On weekends when Monk went home to Liberty he always took me with him for the weekend and we enjoyed  fishing in the ponds behind his house.  I always felt a part of Monks family.  We fished together while attending North Carolina State and I had Monk as my teacher and he was one of the best. After graduation we went our separate ways during our careers but we always kept in contact with each other and we always got together with Monk and Lucy occasionally to fish together and visit.   Claudia and I will miss Monk very much and our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family.

Doar family, all of us at Lorie's Home Care would like to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved Monk.  He was such a bright spot in our day and he always left us with a word of wisdom. He will be missed dearly. You all are in our thoughts and prayers today and the days to come.























I would like to express my deepest condolences to Monk's family during this time.  Monk was truly a good friend and will be missed by so many people here around Lake Wateree, where he once called home.  I first met Monk years ago when he sold K-craft boats and he was the same generous and down to earth man then, as he was a couple months ago when I placed an order over the phone with him.  I can truly say it was a blessing to call him a friend.   I know he will be missed by you his family,  and please know that you all will be in our thoughts and prayers over coming days and weeks.

Just wanted to tell the family Monk was one of the best friends I ever had. I met monk when he managed Wateree Marina and continued a friendship since that time. I called him today and the phone was answered  by his daughter. At that point I learned that he had passed away.  I will always think of Monk when crappie fishing. He will be missed by many people. 
I also knew Lucy very well and I always told Monk she was the best part of him.
I will keep the entire family in my thoughts and prayers.

I first met Monk about 5 years ago at the Raleigh fishing show.  I bought some jigs from him in the trailer and thoroughly enjoyed talking with him.  We discovered that my daughter and his granddaughter knew each other and shared a love for horses.  Talking with him was so easy and I felt like I’d known him my whole life.  I sat in on his seminar and realized that this guy not only knew what he was talking about, but he was truly a master craftsman.  It was such a joy to see someone with such passion talk about what he loved and be willing to share that with others.  A couple years ago when Monk couldn’t make it to the show, my Dad and brothers decided that it wouldn’t be the same without seeing Monk, so we went to see him at his house instead.  As always, he rolled out the red carpet for us and shared some great stories and knowledge.  I visited him in his new shop several times and once brought a fellow Wolfpack buddy who had never met Monk.  We talked about NC State, the textile industry, and a bit about his career.  Suddenly, he gets a sparkle in his eye and says, “hey, you need to see this”.  He went into his closet and pulled out a ream of old fabric.  He unrolled it and explained that it was the first roll of Jacquardized fabric made in North America and the pattern on it was Tuffy, the Wolfpack mascot!!  What a proud alumnus he was.  This should be in a museum.  Monk Wilson was a treasure and will be missed by a lot of folks a great deal.  God Bless you Monk Wilson.  Thanks for all the shared wisdom and good memories.
