

He served his country for 3 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. Odell worked for 30 years with Lucent Technology. He also attended Randolph Technical College and Technical College of Alamance. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1949. He was an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan.
Odell will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and faithfulness to the Lord. He will be greatly missed.
In their early years, Odell and Faye were campers, having camped to California twice, to Niagara Falls, to Florida, and many times to the mountains and to the coast. They also flew to Hawaii for 10 days.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Faithway Baptist Church, 610 East Lake Drive, Greensboro.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harvey and Ora Smith; sons, PFC. Wayne Smith and Randy Smith and one brother, Edward Smith.
Surviving are his loving wife, Faye Corsbie Smith; daughter, Deborah Smith Maness and husband Kevin; sisters, Inez Robertson, Elva Joyce, and Christine Holden and husband Gerry; brothers, Paul Smith and wife Chris, Garland Smith and wife Carol; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
