

Pat was a member of Liberty First United Methodist Church who served on numerous church committees through the years. She was a devoted volunteer at the Liberty Bargain Shop. She will be remembered as a faithful supporter of her children through the Girl Scouts, a school grade mother, Parent Teacher Association, athletics, beach trips and travels.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandra Ireson officiating. The family will greet guests following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Patsy was the daughter of the late Arthur Ernest and LuVilla Mae Shoffner Staley and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Thelma Osborne and Ruth Hicks and brothers, Hubert “Bud” Staley, Ted Staley, and Dean Staley.
Surviving is her husband of 60 years, William V. “Bill” Smith; daughters, Lyn S. Richardson (Jeff) and Kimberly S. Griffin (Keith “Buzz”); grandchildren, Justin Richardson (Julie), Taylor G. Griffin and Mandy G. Matthews; great-grandchild, Charlotte Rilyn Richardson, Carson and Chloe Matthews; sisters, Linda Gilmore (Bill), Peggy Jones (Bobby); brothers, George Staley (Patty), Kenneth Staley (Betty Jean), and Gwynn Staley (Dee Ann).
The family would like to extend their most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Mary Stephens, JoAnn Martin and Ann Caviness for their loving care and friendship.
