Born and raised in Panama City, Florida, she is the daughter of the late Coy and Bonnie Raffield, nee Cook. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Vern Hammond. She is the loving mother of Dennis Hammond (wife Sheila) and David Hammond (wife Linda). Sister of Ann Couchigan (the late Couch), Bill Raffield (wife Evon), Charles Albert Raffield (wife Pam) and Ima Jean Evans (husband Alton). She is also survived by her dear grandchildren, Alex Hammond (wife Courtney), Theodore Hammond (wife Caroline), Kelly Hammond (fiancee Matt Saucier) and Grace Hammond.
Married 65 years to her beloved Vern, Betty enjoyed cruises and traveling. Without fail, every time she entered the condo, she would remark "isn't that a gorgeous view," as she gazed upon the ocean, palm trees and beach.
She loved the ocean view from her condo balcony as she watched the boats come and go, enjoyed swimming with her condo friends and often spoke of the beautiful clouds.
She attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.
While Vern got his degree at the University of Florida, Betty worked in the Agriculture Department for the University of Florida.
On one of their recent trips to a Gator Football game, they were both named King and Queen of the Engineering Homecoming of 2014.
Throughout her life she was always a member of the Church Choir and remembered by her loving smile.
She will be truly missed by her adoring family and friends, but they know, she is now singing with her new family in the Heavenly Angelic Choir.
