Christopher Adam Lehman (b. 3/31/1967) died peacefully shortly before sunrise on Christmas Day, 2025, with his family by his side. Having been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, Chris lived the last few years of his life as a brave and courageous warrior, with a renewed appreciation for the world and people around him. He will be remembered as an outgoing, gentle man focused on community and family. He was, in every possible sense of the word, a “romantic”, and ready to show it- and he was big enough, in every possible sense of the word, not to care whether others thought it was cringey or just plain outrageously over the top but it always made him lovable.
Chris grew up in Rye, NY, the son of Lawrence and Susan Lehman and younger brother to Scott, in a house full of dogs. He attended Rye Neck High School and, later, Milton Academy and the College of Boca Raton. He met his wife, Sondra, while in Florida during 1992. He enjoyed kayaking, diving, all kinds of fishing and even jumping off draw bridges. Chris was an accomplished pilot and flew professionally for several years before settling into a long career as an engineering inspector for the State and its private contractors. He and Sondra became fixtures in the Renaissance Festival community and were avid concert goers. As his illness kept him increasingly at home, Chris developed his interests in gardening and the bird and insect life around him. He took special comfort in dragon fly sightings. Each day he expressed gratitude for the chance to be in this world even as he peered onward to the next one.
Chris is survived by his wife Sondra, daughter Katrina, son Benjamin and brother Scott, along with multiple brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A celebration of Chris’ life will be held at Quiet Waters Park on January 9th at 3:00pm.
