It is with deep sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of Frances Katelman, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many, on 9/9/2024, at the age of 95. Fran was a beacon of love, humor, and wisdom, touching the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born in Brooklynn, NY, she grew up with a natural warmth that drew people to her. She was the kind of person who could make anyone feel at home, whether through her infectious laughter or her wise counsel. Her sharp wit and keen sense of humor were matched only by her boundless generosity and kindness. Fran had a unique ability to see the good in every situation and person, often offering a helping hand or a listening ear without hesitation.
A devoted mother, Fran raised her children with a perfect blend of love and discipline, teaching them the values of hard work, honesty, and compassion. She was incredibly hard-working herself, managing to juggle the demands of her career and home life with grace and efficiency. Her shrewdness and intelligence were evident in everything she did, from managing her household to offering sage advice to those who sought it.
Fran was also a deeply loving wife, outliving two wonderful husbands, Stan and Paul, whom she cared for with unwavering devotion until their final moments. Her love for them was a testament to her enduring commitment and strength, and she took solace in the memories they created together.
But perhaps her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. Her grandchildren adored her, not just for the love and care she showered upon them, but for the joy she brought into their lives. She was their confidante, their biggest cheerleader, and the sources of countless happy memories that they will cherish forever.
Frances leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. She is survived by her children Michael and Kathy, her 4 grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends who will all miss her dearly. Though she has left this world, the impact she made on those around her will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
