I’m so so sorry to hear the news about Ryan. He was one of my my best friends in high school. So many good memories. My heart aches for his family. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Time: at 5 a Day feels like a year at 10 it’s more like a month. At 15 time only revolves around you and at 20 time is what to do. At 30 time starts to exponentially speed up...and years start to feel like months. Then years start to pass between the things we miss most and our dreams we once had...feel more like life’s wicked joke. The last time I saw Ryan I asked if there was any chance he would want to sail around the world one day with a few of us guys. I said “it may take years life” he “ said “I’m in before he even said Hi”. Ryan was huge guy with a genuine heart. A big smile. Who loved adventure. I wish i had gotten to “set sail” with him. My condolences on Ryan's passing. I had the pleasure of coaching Ryan from 8-10 years old at Highland. His butterfly record still stands and also stands in my mind as the measuring stick for all of my other swimmers over the past 30 years. Incredible is an understatement. I grew up in the same neighborhood as Ryan. We both transferred from public schools into private. He was like an older brother to me, showing the ropes. Taking me to school when I needed it and watching out for me, even when acting too cool to do so. I have so much love for Ryan. He was a beautiful soul who never really saw his own beauty. I am sorry for your suffering and can only hope your memoirs carry you through this dark time.

I had the joy of teaching Ryan composition when he was a junior at Cathedral High School. My heart and prayers are with all of his friends and family, especially his children, today.
