Julio Antonio Sánchez
(July 4, 1937 - May 28, 2021)
On Friday May 28, 2021, Julio Antonio Sanchez, of Weston, Florida passed away, he was 83.
Julio was a dedicated family man, a loyal friend, and a blessing to everyone who knew and loved him. Above all, he was a good and faithful servant to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who sustained him throughout his life.
Born in Juncos, Puerto Rico on July 4, 1937 to parents (now deceased) Rafaela Reyes and Román Sánchez, previous mayor of the City of Juncos, PR. Julio was raised in his beloved island of Puerto Rico with his three siblings, Hector Sánchez (deceased), Gloria (Sánchez) Carver, and Carmen Sonia (Sánchez) Maurice. He graduated from City College of New York and proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Air Force as a radio technician and operator.
In 1961, he married the love of his life, Carmen Delia Sánchez, and settled in Guaynabo, PR where they raised their children.
Julio was an entrepreneur, launching various businesses throughout his life such as commercial painting, food sales, construction, and even charitable foundations. He spent most of his career in ITT and AT&T, where for more than 25 years held high-level executive positions including Director of Human Resources, Director of Consumer Services, and Director of Marketing and Sales. Together with his wife, Carmen, he went on to train large company executives and later became the Executive Director of Calvary Evangelistic Mission, Inc., a Christian radio station that broadcasts to Puerto Rico and the Lesser Antilles.
In 2005, he and Carmen settled in Weston, Florida, where he worked as an executive at All Star Realty. He dedicated the last 15 years of his life not only to his family, but also to his local church, Calvary Chapel Plantation.
Julio was a devoted son, husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and in March he became a great-grandfather. He was generous with heartfelt prayers and always made time to offer a compassionate ear and a strong shoulder to lean on whenever someone needed it. He was known for sharing his insightful wisdom and valuable advice, his warm smile and sense of humor, and spot-on recommendations for where to eat the most delicious Puerto Rican food imaginable.
What people will remember most about Julio is that his unshakable faith in God guided his every decision, word, and action. He wholeheartedly believed that if people could just tap into God’s power and grace, it would change their lives forever. This imparted a lasting impression on everyone he interacted with. He served the Lord by living by God’s Word and reflecting God’s love to others, encouraging them to seek and receive Christ in their lives.
It is this legacy of Godly love that Julio’s family and friends will forever hold dear, and they are comforted by the fact that Julio is now with God Almighty in a glorified body where he has no pain, no worries, and no fear. Instead he is surrounded by JOY, oh unspeakable JOY!
His wisdom, advice, humor, and kindness will be greatly missed.
He leaves to mourn his passing a loving wife Carmen; his son Eric Sánchez and daughter-in-law Cary; his daughter Tania (Sánchez) Zimmer; his grandchildren Liana, Christina, Luke, and Joshua; his great-grandson Odin; his sister Gloria and brother-in-law Charles Carver; his sister Sonia and brother-in-law Walter Maurice; his sister-in-law Irma (Merly) Sánchez; a close-knit quartet of nieces Tere, Esther, Brenda, and Carmen; and an extended family who loved him very much.
