
Donald L. “Dean” Harmon was called home to be with the Lord, 11:28 a.m. Sunday, Sept 11, 2011 in the Emergency Room of St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born on Sept 21, 1928 in Altoona, Florida to Harrison and Luta Harmon and they preceded him in death. He married Louella B. Wright on October 22, 1960 and she survives.
Mr. Harmon is survived by his stepchildren, Sandra (James “Mick”) Stout of Smithfield, NC, Robert E. Fleischmann of Lima, Danny Otis (Chris) Fleischman also of Lima, Douglas (Carol) Fleischmann of Degraff, Ohio; thirteen step grandchildren and fourteen step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings, H.B. Harmon, Bill Harmon, Joe Harmon and Dorothy Vanskye. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Roger (Marilyn) Wright of Lima, Joyce Wright of Lima, Cecil McDonald of Lima, Janet (Bill) Sarno of Lima, Rosie Wright of Lima, Lavina Pugh of Melbourne, Florida, June Coates of Melbourne and Laura Wright of Lima and his beloved dog, Heidi.
He was employed as a high lift operator with Otis Wright and Sons for over 30 years. He was the head of the warehouse at Master Maintenance. He liked camping and hunting. He was an accomplished woodworker making beautiful birdhouses and walking sticks. He was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
Friends may call Wednesday, Sept 14, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept 15th at Siferd-Orians Funeral home with Pastor Tom Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Allentown Cemetery where the VFW Post 1275 will conduct military graveside rites.
