Eileen R. Wood Longbrake

Eileen R. Longbrake, age 91, of Elida, died peacefully at 10:45 a.m., on Friday, September 14, 2012, at her daughter’s residence in Elida. She was born on August 11, 1921, in Cairo, to Russell J. and Edna C. (Kollar) Wood who preceded her in death. On February 4, 1940, she married Ray A. Longbrake who passed away on September 11, 2004.

Mrs. Longbrake had been a homemaker and was a member of Elida Immanuel United Methodist Church. She loved her family, the time spent at the lake and she took great enjoyment in taking care of her flowers. Her family will long remember what a great cook she was and how much she enjoyed her endeavors. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch visiting with neighbors or anyone passing by.

Surviving are two children: Bill D. (Brenda) Longbrake of Gomer and Carol (David) McDorman of Elida; a daughter-in-law: Barb Longbrake of Elida; five grandchildren: Devonne’ (Jerry) Dickrede, Jeff R. Longbrake, Denise M. Moye, Stacy (Jim) Lewis and Scott McDorman; eleven great-grandchildren: Trey McDorman, Brodie McDorman, Evan Lewis, Gabriella Lewis, Addison Lewis, Bethany (Stephen) Oen, Ben Dickrede, Matt Dickrede, Danielle Wilkerson, Brittany Longbrake, Joshua Moye, Meagan Moye and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son: Gary R. Longbrake; a brother, Donald J. Wood and two sisters, Betty Simpson and Imogene Rader.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with Revs. Kim Seiberling and Mike Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida.

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Elida Immanuel United Methodist Church or St. Rita’s Hospice.

The family wants to express their thanks to Dr. Neidhardt and the St. Rita’s Hospice caregivers and nurses for the comforting help that was given to our mother and grandmother.
