Eugene Edward Funk

Gene was born on July 1, 1930 in Elyria, OH to Hilda (Shields) Solomon, who preceded him in death. He married Barbara Sue (Fitzpatrick) in March of 1964, and she preceded him in death on August 27, 2003. Gene was a salesman with Kar Product and sold commercial nuts and bolts. Gene valiantly served his country in the Marine Corps. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, where he served as a trustee, and ministered to his church with his gift of handy work. Gene was a follower of Christ and was a witness of His love to family, friends, and strangers alike. He was a devoted husband who took wonderful care of his wife through many years of illness. He was a devoted father and grandfather. A truly generous and loving man. He greeted each morning with whistles and songs, and ended every evening with thanksgiving for the gift of that day.

He is survived by his seven children, David E. (Jason Cole) Funk, of Delphos, Susan (Harley) Hoover, of Marion, Kelly Brinkman, of Delphos, Lora (Howard) Violet, of Delphos, Carol (Dennis) Hockett, of Troy, Robin (Carrie) Funk, of Waynesfield, and Tonia (Brian Sperry) Brassell of Wayne, 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, and several step grand and great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2015, at 11AM at Grace Fellowship Church, 1606 W Elm St., Lima, with Pastor Nathan Branim officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield. Visitation will be Monday December 21, 2015 from 4-8 PM at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Fellowship Church or Community Health Professionals of Delphos.
