J. D. Mason

J. D. “Jay” Mason, 70, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Lima, died at 2:15 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was born May 21, 1944, in Knoxville, TN, to Rev. Roy and Anna (Brummett) Mason who preceded him in death.

Survivors include: his wife, Elaine (Pohlabel) Mason; four children, James (Pam) Mason of Columbus, Jeffery (Lois) Mason and Kimberly (Randal) Music, both of Galloway and Dennis Mason; four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren plus one on the way. Also surviving are his siblings: Jewell Baker of Lakeland, Mary Kantner of Lima, Roy (Janice) Mason, Jr. of Oakwood, Larry Mason of Knoxville, TN and Ronnie (Faye) Mason of Resaca, GA.

He was preceded in death by the following siblings: Ethel Wimer, Levi Mason and Clarence Mason.

Mr. Mason retired from the John P. Timmerman Company. He was a member of the National Guard and a member of the F.O.E. #370, Lima. His favorite pastime was fishing with his boys.

Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, in Lima Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Terry Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services Saturday in church.
