John Ondo

John S. Ondo, 90, of Elida passed away 2:08 a.m. Thursday morning, April 23, 2015 at Van Crest of Delphos. He was born on May 18, 1924 in Morgantown, WV to Alex and Esther (Papp) Ondo and they preceded him in death. On November 9, 1966 he married Almeda Carmean and she survives him.

John is also survived by a son, John P. Ondo of Columbus; three grandchildren, Elaine, Julia and Alex. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and Ernest Ondo, and a sister, Julia Libert who died in March of 2015.

Mr. Ondo had been employed as a mechanic and had worked at DWG Cigar Factory. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Chew DD-106 as a Gunner’s Mate III Class. He was a life member of the VFW 1275.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rob Yanok, officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at the Beverly Hills Cemetery in Westover, WV.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 25 from 12 Noon until time of the service at 3 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, where the V.F. W. Post 1275 will hold a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. for their departed member.
