Julia Marie McLaughlin Seggerson

.Julia Marie”Judy” (McLaughlin) Seggerson, 95 of Lima passed away 12:31 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011. She was born on January 18, 1916 in Indiana Harbor, IN to Arthur George & Agnes (Feeney) McLaughlin and they preceded her in death. On Thanksgiving Day, 1940 she married John “Jack” Seggerson and he died July 28, 1986.

Mrs. Seggerson is survived by her nine children, John J. (Kathy) Seggerson, Jr of Atlanta, GA, Arthur G. (Sharon) Seggerson of Arlington, VA, Patrick J. (Connie) Seggerson of Villa Hills, KY, Edward D. (Karen) Seggerson of Northfield, MI, Richard R. (Barbara) Seggerson of Lima, Robert P. (Janie) Seggerson of Lima, Mary A. Hammer of St. Joseph, MI, Timothy F. (Shirley) Seggerson of Mansfield and Lawrence M. (Ruth) Seggerson of Columbus. She is also survived by twenty two grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren , one great great grandchild and a sister: Jane Meyer of Springfield, Ohio.

Judy was a Microbiologist for St. Rita’s Hospital in the 1930’s. After her children were raised she became a chemist in the laboratory at Landmark Feed. She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, she received her bachelor’s degree from Mary Manse College and her graduate degree from the University of Louisville.

Judy and her husband Jack raised nine children in the house on the corner of Kenilworth and Brice Ave. It was a home that she helped fill with love and laughter. She was a founding member of the St. Charles Parish. She was a volunteer at Birthright and St. Rita’s Hospital. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her friends and the staff at Primrose Retirement Community and Lima Convalescent Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Steve Blum as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 2-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home where a Parish Wake will be at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Father Herr Scholarship Fund at Lima Central Catholic High School.
