Opal June Strohl Douglas

Opal June Douglas, 89 of Lima died 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Lima Manor Nursing Home. She was born on June 22, 1921 in Allen County, Ohio to Samuel and Mary Ethel (Lasley) Strohl and they precede her in death.

On June 7, 1941 she married Avery Leo Douglas, Sr and he passed away on September 28, 2007.

Opal had been employed by Artex Hobby for 13 years. She also was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother.

Her survivors include her children: Avery L. (Jean) Douglas, Jr of Kalida, Lorna Marie Stimmel of Lima, a daughter-in-law:Mary Jo Douglas of San Diego, California, seven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many loving nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a daughter: Mary Elizabeth Douglas and a son: James O. Douglas, her siblings: Calvin, Ralph, Harold, George, Sammy Strohl and Cleona Ingledue.

She had been a member of the Cairo Methodist Church and had been a 1939 graduate of Lima Central High School. She had been a Past President of the Cairo American Legion Aux. Post 133.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be held at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Rakay officiating. Burial will follow in Cairo East Cemetery.

Family and friends of the Douglas’s may call: Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Cairo Methodist Church.
