

Robert L. Routson, 87 of Lima passed away Tuesday morning 11:47 a.m. He was born on February 26, 1922 in Lima to: Alva “Bert” and Nellie (Whitby) Routson and they preceded him in death. He was married for 42 years to Virginia E. (Berryhill) Routson and she died December 13, 2009. He had previously been married to Laura Cole and she also preceded him in death.
Robert was a union President for UAW 975 for the Teledyne Ohio Steel Foundry, and then became International Representative of the UAW and retired after 40 years of service. Robert was honorably discharged after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an Aviation Radioman. He was a member of the FOE Aerie #370. He was an avid golfer and loved to work outside building things. Robert loved his family and enjoyed doing things for others.
Robert is survived by his children: Mary Ann Wicker of Cromwell, IN, James L. Routson of Macintosh, FL, Donald E. (Janet) Routson of Ligonier, IN, Sharon Blackshire of Ligonier, IN, Betty (Larry) Martin of Ligonier, IN and Vena (Jim) Showalter of Warsaw, IN. He is survived by his sister: Mary Spinnati of Cridersville, 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren,8 great-great-grandchildren. His stepchildren: Deborah (Larry) Miller of Elida, Carla (Jim) Clemens of Lima, 6 step grandchildren: Donna (Ron) Stuttler, Tracy (Dan) Mathias, David (April) Schultz, Kelly (Shane) Newland, Jodi (John) Hartle and Kyle (Crystal) Hancock and 20 step great grandchildren .
Along with his parents and his wife Virginia, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Lois Allen, Helen Newell, Flossie Hight and Joe Routson, 3 grandchildren Raymond Woten, James Routson, and Lisa Lash and a stepson: Michael Newland.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Siferd-Orians Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Jenkins, officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Family and friends may call Thursday, February 25 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
