

Treda “Jean” Meister, of Lima, died at 9:55 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2011, at her daughter’s residence in Englewood. She was born on May 19, 1926, in Lima, to William Charles and Lela Juanita (Elliot) Cavanaugh who preceded her in death. On Jan. 25, 1944, she married James R. Meister, Sr. who died on July 16, 1989.
Mrs. Meister was a homemaker and had worked for American Greeting Cards from 1983 until 1989. She was a member of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church and the Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #370.
Surviving are four children: James (Suzanne) Meister, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Dennis (fiancé M.J. Miller) Meister and Timothy (friend Cindy Ochs) Meister both of Lima, and Patricia (Roger Greaker) Bruno of Englewood; a sister, Dodie Wheeler of Phoenix, AZ; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Cavanaugh, and two sisters, Betty Bresson and Patty Helmig.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Apr. 21, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home with Fr. George Blasick officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
