Wava Arleen Sheffield

Arleen Sheffield, 88 of Lima died in her home on 1:21 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 28, 1922 in Swanton, Ohio to Harlan and Anna (Spring) Coon and they preceded her in death. On November 15, 1941 she married Robert A. Sheffield of Lima and he passed away on November 27, 1978.

She was a store manager for Lawson Milk Company for many years, retiring in 1984. Previous to that, she worked in the shoe department at Gregg’s Department Store. Upon retirement Arleen volunteered with the Literacy Council teaching adults to read and she also volunteered at St. Rose School and St. Vincent De Paul.

She is survived by 5 children. Diane (Ronald) Sexton of Pasadena, California, T.J. Sheffield and David Sheffield both of Lima, Julia Sheffield and Nora (Tom) Niblick both of Decatur, Indiana, eleven grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and three step grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two sons: Robert A., Jr and William G. Sheffield, one grandson: Jeremy Kruse and one step granddaughter Jennifer Niblick.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 18, 2011 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father J. Norbert Howe as celebrant.

Family and friends may call at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home 506 N Cable Rd. Lima, Ohio on Thursday, from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m., where there will be a Rosary service at Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Rita’s Hospice, 770 W. North St., Lima, OH, 45801 in her name.
