

Annette Marion (Kirkish) Culbertson passed away peacefully on July 1, 2016. She was raised in Centerville, CA (now Fremont) by her parents, Joseph and Melia Kirkish, Lebanese immigrants who owned and operated the Kirkish Department Store.
Annette attended San Jose State University and University of California Berkeley where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in and a Registered Nursing license in 1953.
After graduation, Annette worked as a public health nurse in Palo Alto, CA until she married Gerald Culbertson of Lincoln in 1960. She relocated to Placer County in 1961 where she worked as a nurse for Head Start, Glen Edwards School in Lincoln, and other schools in Rocklin. She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe and sailed on several cruises. She also enjoyed camping with her husband and daughters, reading, volunteering for Camp Fire Girls and watching baseball.
Her survivors include daughter Juliet Culbertson of Woodland, CA, daughter Joy Culbertson of Lincoln, CA, son Kenneth Ovnicek (Billie) of Spokane, WA, grandchildren Angela Ridgely (Clay) and Adrianna Ovnicek, and great grandson William Ridgely. Her death was preceded by husband Jerry Culbertson in 2013 and daughter Elizabeth Ann Culbertson in 1960.
A rosary followed by a Catholic Mass will be held Thursday, July 14 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church 280 Oak Tree Lane, Lincoln, CA, 95648. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Joseph’s Church for their building fund.
