On January 4, 2022, at home and surrounded by his close family, Charles Anthony Leto Jr lost his hard-fought battle with esophageal cancer. Charles, who was better known as Chuck, was born on September 16th 1958 in New Jersey. He was the son of Joyce and Charles Anthony Leto and a brother to Carol, Steve, Linda, and Janice.
Chuck attended Matawan Regional High School where he was an excellent athlete and a proud member of the 1976 undefeated and State Champion football team. In 1978 he moved to California where he would eventually meet the love of his life, Lisa. Chuck and Lisa were wed on June 2, 1984 in San Jose, California. Chuck and Lisa would go on to have two boys, Kyle Joseph Leto (Lauren Meyer Leto) and Charles Anthony Leto III, better known as Chad (Lauren Markewitz Leto), and lived a beautiful life together for 40 years. Chuck received both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Industrial Technology from San Jose State University and retired from a 35-year career as an engineer in aerospace with the last 30 years at Lockheed Martin.
Family and friendship were everything to Chuck. He was extremely proud of the life that he created with his family, the love that he shared with Lisa, and the men that his sons became. Chuck was an avid cyclist, he loved to travel, meet people and had an amazing appreciation of nature. His smile and sense of humor endeared him to so many who will forever miss his presence. He will be remembered whenever there is a beautiful sunset in the sky or a glass of wine shared amongst friends. He will forever be remembered by all of those fortunate enough to call him friend, uncle, brother, Dad, and husband.
