In loving memory of Christopher Robert Melendrez, otherwise known as “STYLIE.” After courageously battling cancer this past year and most recently had heart surgery “Stylie” left us suddenly to be with his heavenly father on March 12, 2017. “Stylie” was brave and courageous during these tough times never losing his fight or his jovial character. He was always smiling, cracking jokes, and making friends with his care givers.
Christopher was born in Sacramento, CA on April 1, 1961 to Florentino Robert and Mary Joe Melendrez. “Stylie” is a graduate of Class “79” and lived the majority of his life in Lincoln. He has always been courageous and loved being “Cowboy.” He participated in the Lincoln High School Rodeo where this city boy loved riding bucking bulls and teeing sheep. He continued his passion for “Cowboy” throughout his life and remains a member of the Tri-City Rodeo. He always enjoyed being involved in organizations and serving the community; such as, the CA Water Foul and Lincoln Rifle Clubs, Yuba County Sheriff’s posse, and currently is a member of the Gold Prospectors of American (GPAA) club. Christopher proudly served as a Lincoln Volunteer Fireman and rescue squad for 13 years. Out of high school he worked at Lincoln Ice House, Gladding McBean, and in the latest years he drove big rig trucks. And, like his longstanding reputation, gained valued friendships with all those he met.
He is survived by his children, Christopher and Denise; parents, Robert (aka Junior) and Mary Joe; siblings, Michael and Sabrina; nieces, Cierra and Anissa; great nephews, Marcos, Navarro, and Mateo; and his loving fiancé Tanya Martin and family; Cepe, Wade, and Oden. And an endless count of loving cousins, extended family, and friends.
Services will be held April 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 280 Oak Tree Ln, Lincoln. The procession will meet at Lincoln Funeral Home, 406 H St. at 10:30 am. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following services.
