Joyce Elaine Magonigal - Nelson

Joyce Elaine Magonigal - Nelson passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, in Roseville, California, at the age of 83. Born on January 29, 1942, in Marysville, California, Joyce lived a full and vibrant life surrounded by family, friends, and the many places she loved to explore.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, George and Elaine Magonigal, her brother Robert Bunnell, and her son, Michael Nelson.

Joyce found great joy in traveling the world with her partner Jerry and their close-knit group of friends, the Lincoln Travelers. Exploring new places and sharing those experiences with lifelong friends was one of her greatest passions. Closer to home, she treasured her time as a proud and supportive grandmother—rarely missing a game or event from the bleachers.

She is survived by her daughter Michel Whitney (Dan), her brothers; Ed and Gary Magonigal (Lucy), her cherished grandchildren; Kacey Bush, Shelby Nelson, and Mitchell Whitney, and her adored great-grandchildren; Sonoma and Levi Whitney. She also leaves behind her loving partner, Jerry Battistini, who brought much joy and companionship to her later years.

A Funeral Mass will be held in Joyce’s honor on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Following the Mass, a burial will take place at Manzanita Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Family Center, where family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate her life.

Joyce will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her unwavering love for family, and her warm and generous heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
