

Lynette Chauvet-Thompson passed away on September 4, 2017 at the age of 75. Lyn grew up in Carmichael, CA after moving from Placerville, CA where, as a toddler, her family owned and operated a pear farm. Lyn became very active in the Order of Job's Daughters, was the Past Honored Queen Bethel #312, and was the California Grand Bethel Representative to the Philippines. Later, when Lyn traveled to Manila, she was given a key to the city. After graduating from La Sierra H.S. and 2 yrs of College, Lyn worked at Aerojet as a draftsman and later accepted a job at S.M.U.D. She worked there for 30 years, first as a draftsman, then as a graphic artist/supervisor, and finally as an Area Head. At S.M.U.D, Lyn headed up the Foster Parents, Save the Children program, volunteered often on the United Way employee fund drives and lastly was their Disneyland Representative. Lyn always had a cheerful smile and contagious laugh and was always generous with her time and talents. In 1964, Lyn married Leon Chauvet, and they lived in Rancho Cordova, CA and then bought the house in Carmichael, CA when her parents James and Donna Messick sold it to them to move to their retirement home in Colfax, CA. In 2007, Lyn married Fred Thompson, and they moved to Sun City in Lincoln, CA. Both Lyn and Fred loved golf. Lyn played golf courses in many countries and many well-known U.S. courses. She loved traveling and made many trips with lifelong friends and fellow golfers. She was a past President of the Pacific Women's Golf Association and was Handicap Director for several years. Lyn felt blessed with all the wonderful neighbors and friends she had over the years. Lyn is survived by her brother, Gary Messick (Barbara), nephews Steven Messick (Katherine) and Douglas Messick (Melissa), and grandchildren Robin, Dallas, Warren, Myrna, and Greta Messick. On Fred's side, Lyn is survived by Fred's son Patrick, grandchildren Kevin Thompson, Kathleen Mitchell and great granddaughter Aubrey Mitchell. A celebration of Lyn's life will take place on Tuesday, October, 24 from 6:00pm 10:00pm at Sun City Lincoln Hills Community Center, 965 Orchard Creek Lane, Lincoln CA 95648 in the Grand Ballroom, the same room that Fred and Lyn held their wedding reception.
