Barbara was the firstborn to Fred and Edith Kjeldgaard, the oldest sister to Arlene and brother, Denny. In her early adult life, Barbara Kjeldgaard was employed as a soda jerk at the local drugstore. There, she first met Raymond Plouzek, serving him soda. The Nebraska Department of Roads, Ray’s employment, brought him from Lincoln to Tekamah frequently. He continued to appear at the local drugstore for more soda and more Barbara. Then, a relationship began and within a year, Ray and Barb (Kjeldgaard) Plouzek were married (December 10, 1950).
Ray and Barb purchased a home together in Lincoln, Nebraska. They had their firstborn son, James, in June of 1954 and their second son, Garry, in June of 1957. Barb was first and foremost a mother. She enjoyed her traditional role of homemaker and was quite arguably the BEST mom and wife to her family. With two loving and devoted parents, the boys made many memories in that home: continuous delicious meals, backyard explorations, neighborhood gatherings, and all the adventures boys dream of.
Barb and Ray were blessed to have over seventy years of marriage together. They both left a legacy of love to all. Barb will be remembered for her love. She ceaselessly and selflessly devoted herself to her family, to people. She continually pursued relationships. The blessed recipients of this love extended to her two daughter in laws, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and people all over.
Barbara Plouzek is survived by sister Arlene (Frank) Biane, brother Denny (Jan) Kjeldgaard, son Jim (Nan) Plouzek, grandchildren Brad (Steph), Megan (Kelly), Marcus (Alexis), and Jason (Alexandria); great-grandchildren Elsa, Rosie, Jones, Micah, Scarlett, Samuel, Harper; son Garry (Chris) Plouzek, grandchildren Breanna (Trevor), Brook (Tyler), Bethany; great-grandchildren Edith, August, Esther, Ada, Audie, Aviana, Gracelynn, Jeremiah, and Charles.
And this is how we know what love is: Christ Jesus laid down His life for us. -I John 3:16
