

Bernice I. (Nolan) Hoffart, Born on May 30, 1931 near Carter in rural Tripp County S. DK., the sixth child of William and Irene (Loney) Nolan. Bernice married Vern E. Hoffart in 1948. Vern died in September 2014 after 66 years of marriage. She died on December 23, 2018 in Lincoln NE. Surviving siblings are Margaret Drobny, of O’Neill, Mary (Jim) Bourn of Ewing, Jack (Mary Fran) Nolan of Crawford, Patricia (Bob) Melcher of Winnetoon. Deceased siblings: Kay Birt, Betty Newsam, Sam Nolan, Eileen Slechta, Billy Nolan and parents Bill and Irene Nolan.
She attended rural schools in Knox County and graduated from Niobrara High School in 1948.
Five children were born to Vern and Bernice they are David (Andrea) Hoffart, Beverly (Denny) Wertz, Richard (Kathy) Hoffart, Carol (Bill) Naviaux, and Nancy (Randy, deceased in 2013) Melichar, Nancy & Randy’s daughter Felicia (husband - Allen, children Trinity, Tyrin and Imry) and seven grandchildren, Michael (Holly) Hoffart, Michelle (Shane) Jensen, Laura (Michael) Kohel, Brett Wertz, Dana (Anthony) Leetch, Steven (Adria) Melichar, Brian (Adriana) Hoffart, Three great grand children, Ashlyn and Beckett Jensen and Truman Leetch, with one on the way to Brian and Adriana. Other survivors. Sister-in-Law Colleen Nolan of Midland TX, brother-in-law Dwain Hoffart of Lincoln, many friends, numerous nieces and nephews. She was a Life member of VFW Auxiliary 131, and DAV Chapter 7, member of Military Order of Cootie Auxiliary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 6111 Morrill Ave on Friday, December 28th at 10:30 a.m. There will be a luncheon immediately following the mass at the parish social hall. Inurnment will be at 2:00 pm on Friday at Lincoln Memorial Park, please meet at Gate 2. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 27th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to family for future charitable designation.
