Chris Lyberis, 98, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed on April 16, 2026. Born in Lincoln on March 2, 1928, Chris was the son of Bill and Anna (Grimes) Lyberis. He grew up alongside two older brothers and a younger sister. Chris graduated from Lincoln high.
After high school, Chris began his working life with Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph (LT&T) in the mail room. During the Korean conflict, he enlisted in the Army and served his two-year tour stateside. Following his military service, Chris returned to LT&T, where he spent the remainder of his career as a Sales Consultant.
Chris married Georgia Morey, and together they enjoyed nearly 60 years as husband and wife. They lived their entire married life in Lincoln.
Over many years, Chris and Georgia bought houses in need of repair, refurbished them, and then sold them or rented them out to others. He also bowled for many years with the LT&T bowling league, and he enjoyed hunting quail and pheasant. After retirement, he traveled with Georgia, and after her passing, Chris’s niece, Karen Jones, would travel with him. Their journeys took him across much of the United States and to several places abroad—experiences he met with the same open warmth he brought to daily life.
Chris never knew a stranger. Whether in the grocery store or far from home, he had an easy way of striking up conversation. He was approachable and people found him very easy to talk to.
Chris was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia, his parents, oldest son, Jim, his brothers George and William and his sister, Nina. His survivors include his son, Joe Lyberis, grandson, Harley Lyberis as well as many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
