CF graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946 and immediately joined the Army. He was stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina as a dental tech. After the Army, he attended Milford Trade School as an electrician. He was then hired on as a fireman on steam engines at Burlington Northern Railroad and soon advanced to an engineer where he spent 44 years until retirement in 1991. He married Donna Schafer on November 12, 1949 in Lincoln. They had three children: Randy, Linda, and Lori. He remarried in 1975 to Charlene, with whom he spent 43 years until her passing in 2019. CF was proud of his Czech heritage and visited his homeland on four different occasions.
CF is survived by his children, Randy (Carol) Johnson, Linda (Ken) Flowerday, Lori (Jay) Spracklen; grandchildren, Tanner (Justine) Spracklen, Carter Spracklen, Parker Spracklen, Seth (Elizabeth) Flowerday, Luke (Lauren) Flowerday, Schafer Flowerday, Cole Johnson, Carly Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ryder Lund, Gemma Spracklen, Nova Spracklen, Clare Flowerday, Lucy Flowerday, Evan Flowerday; step-daughter, Becky (Steve) Krueger; step-grandchildren, Amanda (John) Lukesh, Aaron (Danielle) Krueger; step-great-grandchildren, William and Evie Lukesh; special friend, Zoe Holland; and many other cherished friends and loved ones.
CF is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Carrie Johnson; Donna Johnson; Charlene Johnson; brothers Frank and Leonard Johnson; sisters Alyce Long, Gladys Nelson, and Helen Ruth Hanneman.
