Cliff grew up in Lincoln and for a short time in California. He lived in Lincoln for many years after returning from his training in the US Army, until he & his Wife Kandi moved to Roy, Washington three years ago.
Those who knew Cliff best, will remember him for his big grin and the ability to make people laugh. He never really met a stranger that he did not become a friend to. He had a gift for gab with the best of them. Cliff enjoyed the outdoors, especially being able to be somewhere he could get away with just wearing his Birkenstocks and hanging with family and friends. Cliff was hardworking and would take on most tasks himself before giving it to others to do.
Cliff was an avid supporter of the Lincoln Stars hockey team, the U.S. Veterans and of course the Nebraska Cornhuskers. One of his greatest enjoyments was playing Santa for a host of families, especially for the BNSF Railway Holiday Express, that particularly work with military families.
Cliff’s passing has left a void in the hearts of his wife, children, family, and those who loved him. We ask you not to remember his life as it ended, but instead remember his beautiful smile, love for people, and his gift of helping others.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Kandi Bremer; children, Eric (Ruth) Ostgaard, Caitlin Ostgaard; his stepson, Ben Nesbitt (fiancée Jenny Huffman); granddaughter, Isabelle Ostgaard; step-grandchildren, Ryleigh & Jake Rodgers; siblings, Terry (Marge) Ostgaard, Cindy (Norm) Schuler, Susan Ostgaard; nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved aunts, uncle, and cousins, who all cherish his memory.
Preceding Cliff in death are his parents, Bud & Shelly Ostgaard; his grandparents; and several extended family members.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Van Dorn Park enclosed shelter located at 9th & Van Dorn Streets.
A military graveside service will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 6800 S. 14th St. (Please meet at the Gate 2 entrance).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boy Scout Pack 55, c/o Willard Community Center,
1245 S. Folsom St., Lincoln NE 68522. Any cards or memorials may be sent to the Ostgaard Family
c/o Cindy Schuler, 3205 Touzalin Ave, Lincoln NE 68507.
Cliff’s legacy of kindness will be deeply missed, but forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
