December 25, 1974 – July 30, 2025
Born on a day of joy, Donita arrived on Christmas day in 1974 in Hastings, Nebraska, to Curtis and Beverly Rehbein. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter alongside her siblings Diane, Deb, Dan, and Doug. After graduating from Hastings Senior High School, Donita pursued her passion for numbers, earning her college degree in accounting in Lincoln.
In the autumn of 1999, Donita met Randy—the start of a partnership rooted in devotion and shared dreams. They were united in marriage on May 18, 2002, and six years later, on October 9, 2008, welcomed their twin daughters, Chloe and Emma. Affectionately nicknamed the “squirrels,” the girls lit up Donita’s world. Whether cheering at choir performances, soccer games, theater productions, or especially marching band competitions, Donita’s pride and joy were ever-present.
With precision and dedication, Donita built an impressive 30-year career in accounting. Her journey began at HobbyTown’s corporate office, where she rose to Director of Accounting over two decades. She continued her professional path at Union Bank and Trust, serving as the accounting supervisor in the controller’s division. Her integrity, loyalty, and meticulous attention to detail were admired by all who worked with her.
Donita was preceded in death by her beloved father, Curtis, and her brother-in-law Robert Boardman. She is survived by her devoted husband, Randy; her cherished daughters, Chloe and Emma; her mother, Beverly Rehbein; siblings Diane (Scott) Scheffert, Deb (Don) Mazour, Dan (Michelle) Rehbein, and Doug (Katie) Rehbein; in-laws Galen and Kathy Saathoff; brother-in-law Ron (Julie) Saathoff; sister-in-law Sarah (Carey) Goertzen; and brothers-in-law Ryon Saathoff and Joe Shaw. She also leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
A private family viewing and interment will be held at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
A public celebration of Donita’s life will take place at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska on Thursday, August 7th, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Following the celebration of life, all are welcome to a luncheon at the church to honor Donita’s memory and share stories of her kindness, humor, and strength.
