Donna J. Leatherwood (Bowers), passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, on August 28, 2024. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 27, 1932, she had spent her 91 years enjoying all the things that brought joy to her life.
Donna was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married her beloved husband, Billy Leatherwood, on April 20, 1952 and they were blessed with three sons; Ron, Geary, and Matt. Following the raising of these three sons and Donna's retirement from Goodyear in 1991 after 30 years of service, Billy and Donna enjoyed camping, fishing, spending winters in south Texas, and staying involved in local affairs at their condo. Donna also enjoyed baking, playing cards, and going to garage sales. Many of Billy and Donna's greatest joys in life were the time they spent with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donna was well-known for her kindness, generosity, and welcoming spirit. She was warm and bubbly, quick to make friends where she went, and always putting others first. Donna loved doing little things to make others happy, such as delivering cookies or donuts to the nursing home, her dentist, the car wash, and the station that changed the oil in her car. She also never missed sending cards to family and friends for birthdays, holidays, and "just because." Donna treasured her family and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy; her parents, Wallace and Edna Bowers; three sisters, Esther, Norma, and Fern; and three brothers, Alfred, Eugene, and Glenn.
Donna is survived by her three sons, Ron of Reynolds, NE, Geary (Kim) of Greenwood, NE, Matt (Gina) of Jansen, NE; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department, one of Donna's favorite organizations.
